Description

Discover Sophie's home on Sophienhöhe with the dormouse. The hill on the edge of the Hambach open-cast mine was heaped up many years ago and today there is a lot to explore there.


The nature discovery trail is a child-friendly hiking trail with eleven stations where there is plenty to see, marvel at and discover.

Please note that the trail is not barrier-free and therefore not suitable for baby carriages.

    There are numerous partner trails along the Eifelsteig, which also serve as feeders to the Eifelsteig, including the Buntsandstein route. This partner trail is in no way inferior to the main route of the Eifelsteig in terms of quality and attractiveness and also meets the strict criteria of the German Hiking Association with regard to natural hiking trails with beautiful views - preferably without asphalt and reflecting almost all the beauty of the Eifel in a very small area.
