Jülich combines Renaissance history with cutting-edge research. The 16th century fortress town is now a center for energy, climate and bioeconomy and invites you to discover its fortifications, the Citadel Museum and the Brückenkopf Park.

The only remaining city gate of Jülich's medieval fortifications is a historical landmark of the city. The Kulturhaus am Hexenturm also houses the Landscape Gallery.

Directly below the hiking trail along the Schleebachgraben, near the "Im Todt" parking lot, lies the community's wild boar park, which covers around 5 hectares. A refuge and numerous benches invite you to meet the black smocks in a wonderful location.

The short 3.7 km circular route through Berg-Thuir shows all the special features of the village.

With their rust-red rock, the red sandstone cliffs in the Rur valley form a unique landscape. As one of the northernmost rock habitats in Central Europe, they offer a retreat for rare birds and a habitat for special plants. Even the king of the night - the eagle owl - feels at home here.
