Description

In the past, the rails were used to transport coal from the Aachen coalfield, but today you can cycle comfortably and with few inclines along the former railroad line from Aachen to Jülich.

The railroad line from Aachen-Nord to Jülich was closed at the beginning of the 1980s and most of the tracks were subsequently dismantled. In the meantime, a cycle path has been created on the former railroad line, which connects the two towns and is attractive for both leisure cyclists and commuters.

Highlights along the route
Historic old town of Aachen
Aachen Cathedral
Kalkofen estate
Former railroad station buildings (e.g. Mariadorf)
Aldenhoven Mining Museum
Bridgehead Park Jülich
Jülich Citadel
