The starry vistas of the Rureifel are among the most impressive places to experience the night sky. Away from large settlements with their so-called light pollution, there is a darkness here that has become rare - ideal for recognizing the Milky Way or following the movement of the planets. On clear nights, a sparkling band stretches across the low mountain region, while constellations such as Orion or Cassiopeia can be made out. Distant galaxies and star clusters also stand out more clearly when artificial light hardly plays a role. The surroundings play their part in the atmosphere: Forests, mountain ranges and quiet valleys form a natural backdrop that almost automatically draws the eye upwards.
