On the third stage from Gemünd to Heimbach, you hike through the Kermeter. This ridge with its ancient beech forests was the decisive reason for the designation of the national park.

The fortress, Renaissance and modern-day research town of Jülich is the start and finish of this low gradient circular tour through the Bördeland landscape in the northern part of the district of Düren.

The paths of the pilgrims in the Rhineland lead from Kerpen to Düren in the 5th stage and from Düren to Schevenshütte in the 6th stage.
