Deutsches Glasmalerei-Museum Linnich
Germany's unique stained glass museum in Linnich is home to numerous works of historical stained glass and contemporary glass art. It was founded by Dr. Heinrich Oidtmann, the oldest German stained glass workshop based here, who donated his extensive collection to the museum. The exhibits range from the Middle Ages to modern times and cover around 1,400 square meters of the history and technology of stained glass from its beginnings to the present day.
The country's only museum for flat glass painting provides insights into a glass painting workshop and teaches glass art to children, young people and adults in its workshops.
The museum is located in a historic watermill from the early 17th century, which was shut down in the 1960s. The former silo was gutted and an extension was added. The mill pond, which branches off from the Rur, still rushes under the building today.
