indeland: Ellebachroute-Ost (Radroute 8)
Description
This tour shows that we are in one of the regions with the most castles in Europe. Both Obbendorf Castle and the moated castle in Niederzier are on our route.
All indeland cycle routes run mainly on car-free paths, cycle paths along roads and in some cases on low-traffic side roads with predominantly flat gradients. The routes run on flat to slightly hilly terrain and are therefore also suitable for children and less trained cyclists.
At 19 kilometers, the second longest of the indeland cycle routes takes cyclists to the imposing Obbendorf Castle manor. Shooting shafts, weirs and corridors hark back to the old days. Today, the castle is a peaceful country estate with extensive parkland and houses a hotel and restaurant, inviting cyclists to take a break and recharge their batteries. Other highlights on the Ellebachroute Ost are the moated castle and the leisure park in Niederzier, which lies like a quiet oasis between Niederzier and Oberzier and offers play and sports facilities for children, young people and the young at heart, paths for walks and short hikes, as well as park benches along the lake and the streams.
